Some EXM features, including Game Mode, may require you to manually select a game’s executable file if the game is not automatically detected.
A game executable is the .exe file that actually launches and runs the game.
You should select the game itself, not Steam, Epic Games, Battle.net, or another launcher.
Method 1: Find the Executable Through Task Manager
This is usually the easiest method.
Launch the game normally.
Once the game is running, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Find your game under Processes.
Right-click the game.
Select Open file location.
Windows will open the folder containing the executable currently being used by the game.
Look for the .exe file associated with the game.
Method 2: Find a Steam Game Executable
Open Steam.
Go to your Library.
Right-click the game.
Select Properties.
Select Installed Files.
Select Browse.
The game’s installation folder will open.
The executable is commonly located directly inside this folder or within a folder named:
BinariesWin64Win32GameBin
Method 3: Find an Epic Games Executable
Open the Epic Games Launcher.
Open your Library.
Locate the game.
Select the three dots next to it.
Select Manage.
Locate the installation directory.
Open that directory in File Explorer.
Search for the game’s .exe file.
Make Sure You Select the Correct Executable
Some games contain several .exe files.
You may see files for:
The game launcher
Crash reporting
Anti-cheat
Configuration tools
Dedicated servers
The actual game
For EXM Game Mode, select the executable that remains running while you are actually playing the game.
If you are unsure, launch the game and use Task Manager to locate the active executable.
Do Not Select the Game Launcher
Avoid selecting applications such as:
Steam
Epic Games Launcher
Battle.net
Ubisoft Connect
EA App
Riot Client
These applications can remain open even after your game closes and should not be used as Game Mode triggers.
