Does EXM Need Administrator Privileges?
Yes. Many EXM features require Administrator privileges because EXM makes system-level changes that standard Windows applications cannot perform without elevated permissions.
Why Does EXM Need Administrator Access?
Depending on the optimization you choose, EXM may need to modify areas such as:
Windows system settings
Registry settings
Services
Network configuration
Power settings
Hardware-related configuration
Other protected Windows components
Windows restricts access to these areas for security reasons.
What Is the Windows UAC Prompt?
When Windows displays a User Account Control prompt asking whether EXM can make changes to your device, this is normal when elevated permissions are required.
Select Yes to allow EXM to continue.
Should I Run EXM as Administrator?
If EXM is having difficulty applying an optimization or you are troubleshooting an error, we recommend launching it as Administrator.
To do this:
Right-click EXM.
Select Run as administrator.
Select Yes when Windows asks for permission.
Does This Mean EXM Has Unlimited Access to My PC?
Administrator access gives EXM the permissions required to perform the system changes you request.
