How to Fix Security Errors
If EXM is showing a security-related error while applying tweaks, it is usually caused by Windows security settings, User Account Control, or third-party antivirus software interfering with the process. Follow the steps below to resolve it.
Step 1: Disable Third-Party Antivirus
If you are using any third-party antivirus software, temporarily disable it before applying tweaks.
This can prevent the antivirus from blocking EXM files or registry changes during the process.
You can enable your antivirus again after all tweaks have been successfully applied.
Step 2: Disable User Account Control
Open Command Prompt as Administrator and run the following command:
reg add HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /fThis disables User Account Control, which may be preventing EXM from completing certain actions.
Step 3: Uninstall EXM
Once the command has been run, uninstall EXM from your system.
This ensures any blocked or incomplete files are removed before reinstalling.
Step 4: Restart Your PC
Restart your computer after uninstalling EXM.
This is required to fully apply the system change and clear any remaining EXM processes.
Step 5: Reinstall EXM and Try Again
Install EXM again, then launch it and try applying your tweaks once more.
In most cases, this resolves the security error and allows EXM to function normally.
Important Notes
Make sure EXM is run as Administrator after reinstalling.
You can re-enable your antivirus after your tweaks have been applied.
Disabling UAC lowers Windows security, so only do this if needed and only from a trusted source.
