EXM can help improve parts of your system and network behavior, but it is important to understand that it cannot guarantee lower ping in every situation.

Ping is affected by many things outside of your PC, so while some users may notice improvements, others may see little to no change depending on their setup, ISP, location, and the game servers they connect to.

What ping actually is

Ping is the time it takes for data to travel:

  • from your PC to the game server

  • and back to your PC again

Lower ping usually means faster communication with the server, which can help gameplay feel more responsive.

Can EXM lower it?

Yes, in some cases, but not always.

EXM may help reduce delays caused by:

  • poor Windows network configuration

  • unnecessary background network activity

  • inefficient adapter settings

  • system overhead interfering with traffic priority

  • unstable local network behavior

If your PC or Windows settings are contributing to the problem, EXM may help improve that.

Why EXM cannot always lower ping

1. Your distance from the server matters

If the game server is physically far from you, your ping will naturally be higher.

No software can fully remove the delay caused by distance.

2. Your ISP plays a major role

Your internet provider controls a large part of the route your traffic takes.

If your ISP has:

  • poor routing

  • congestion

  • unstable lines

  • overloaded local infrastructure

then your ping may remain the same even after optimization.

3. Game servers vary

Some games have better servers than others.

Your ping can depend on:

  • server region

  • server quality

  • current server load

  • matchmaking placing you in a distant region

In those cases, the issue is outside of EXM and outside of your PC.

4. Wi-Fi can introduce instability

If you are playing on Wi-Fi, your connection may be affected by:

  • signal strength

  • walls or distance from the router

  • other devices on the network

  • wireless interference

This can cause higher ping, jitter, or packet instability even if your PC is optimized.

5. Other people or apps using the network can affect results

If someone is:

  • streaming

  • downloading

  • uploading large files

  • using cloud backups

  • updating games

your connection quality can suffer.

This is especially noticeable on lower bandwidth connections or busy home networks.

What EXM may improve instead of raw ping

Even if your ping number does not drop much, EXM may still help improve:

  • network stability

  • consistency

  • responsiveness

  • jitter

  • bufferbloat behavior

  • overall connection smoothness during gaming

That means the connection can feel better even if the ping number itself does not dramatically change.

Ping vs connection quality

A lot of users focus only on ping, but good online performance also depends on:

  • jitter

  • packet loss

  • bufferbloat

  • route stability

  • server performance

You can have decent ping and still lag if one of those is bad.

Best expectation to have

EXM can help optimize the part of the experience that comes from your PC and Windows configuration.

It may help lower ping in certain cases, but it is more accurate to say it can help improve network behavior and connection quality, not force a guaranteed ping reduction.

Important note

If your ping issue is caused by:

  • your ISP

  • your router

  • Wi-Fi interference

  • server distance

  • poor game servers

  • network congestion

then EXM may not be able to significantly reduce it.

Need more help?

If you are dealing with high ping or unstable connection, contact support and include:

  • the game you are playing

  • whether you use Wi-Fi or Ethernet

  • your region

  • the server region

  • whether the issue is high ping, packet loss, or lag spikes

  • whether other people are using the network at the same time

That helps us determine whether the issue is local, network-related, or server-side.
