How to Enable EXM BIOS Support on ASUS Motherboards

Some ASUS motherboards require additional BIOS settings to be changed before EXM can properly access supported BIOS configuration options.

If EXM's BIOS Tuner cannot properly detect or interact with your ASUS motherboard, follow the steps below.

Enter the ASUS BIOS

  1. Restart your PC.

  2. While the system is starting, repeatedly press Delete or F2.

  3. Wait for the ASUS UEFI BIOS Utility to appear.

If your BIOS opens in EZ Mode, press F7 to switch to Advanced Mode.

Enable Publish HII Resources

Once you are in Advanced Mode:

  1. Select the Tool tab at the top of the BIOS.

  2. Locate Publish HII Resources.

  3. Change the setting from Disabled to Enabled.

On supported ASUS motherboards, Publish HII Resources is located within the BIOS Tool menu.

Disable Password Protection of Runtime Variables

Some ASUS motherboards also include additional protection for NVRAM runtime variables that can prevent EXM from properly interacting with supported BIOS settings.

While still in Advanced Mode:

  1. Select the Advanced tab.

  2. Open UEFI Variables Protection.

  3. Locate Password protection of Runtime Variables.

  4. Change the setting to Disabled.

Your settings should now be:

  • Publish HII Resources: Enabled

  • Password protection of Runtime Variables: Disabled

Save Your Changes

Once both settings have been configured:

  1. Press F10.

  2. Review the BIOS changes.

  3. Confirm and allow your PC to restart.

Open EXM Again

After Windows loads:

  1. Open EXM.

  2. Allow EXM to detect your system again.

  3. Return to the BIOS Tuner.

Your supported ASUS BIOS settings should now be available to EXM.

I Don't See These Settings

The availability and location of these settings can vary depending on your:

  • Motherboard model

  • Chipset

  • BIOS version

  • ASUS product series

If you cannot find Publish HII Resources:

  1. Confirm you are using Advanced Mode.

  2. Check the Tool section of your BIOS.

  3. Check your motherboard's official ASUS BIOS manual.

  4. Update your motherboard BIOS if necessary.

  5. Contact EXM Support if the option is unavailable.

If you cannot find Password protection of Runtime Variables:

  1. Open the Advanced section of your BIOS.

  2. Look for UEFI Variables Protection.

  3. Check your motherboard's official ASUS BIOS manual.

  4. If the setting does not exist on your motherboard or BIOS version, skip this step and continue with Publish HII Resources enabled.

Important

Do not modify unrelated BIOS settings while following this guide.

Incorrect BIOS configuration can cause system instability, boot problems, or unexpected hardware behavior.

Only change the settings listed in this guide unless another EXM guide specifically instructs you to modify additional BIOS options.
